Saint Stephen’s, a mid-sized Episcopal parish on the OSU campus, is seeking a Director of Children and Youth Formation. We have a small but lively formation program that meets for Children’s Church on Sunday mornings. We also have a shared youth group with St. John’s Worthington that meets on Sunday afternoons. The Director of Children and Youth Formation works approximately 6 hours/week, mostly on Sunday mornings but with some time dedicated to curriculum prep beforehand. We are happy to offer a pay rate of $24.58/hour.

As a progressive church, we are looking for candidates who understand our theology. Experience or understanding of Episcopal liturgy is also preferred. Our ideal job candidate is someone who is open-minded and welcoming, with a good sense of humor, and flexible in terms of planning. We are looking for someone who can work collaboratively with children, parents, and grandparents, and has some experience mobilizing adult volunteers.

The Diocese of Southern Ohio is seeking a new Director of Communications to generate and implement an effective and compelling diocesan-wide communications strategy. An ideal candidate has experience establishing and fulfilling a vision, crafting a strategic communications plan and guiding implementation, connecting with storytellers to share a mission, and connecting the diocese and parishes alike to the larger church and community. This leader will also partner closely with the bishop as a resource for a variety of communications needs.

Christ Church Cathedral is seeking a part-time Peaceable Kingdom Nursery Teacher. The teacher will assist to provide dependable, safe, and nurturing care of children, ages 0-9 years in a clean and safe environment, as well as a loving and gentle religious formation. The Peaceable Kingdom (nursery) program at Christ Church Cathedral is modelled after Regio Amelia, Waldorf and Montessori early childhood pedagogies and their utilization of play-based, child-led learning environments.

Position Purpose
St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church, a mission-focused community of faith, is seeking a part-time staff member to coordinate our print and digital communications needs and facilitate engagement and connection of members and newcomers with St. Andrew’s and each other. Familiarity with the theology and liturgy of the Episcopal Church and/or similar liturgical traditions is a plus. This is approximately a 20-hours per week hybrid position with potentially varying work hours and work location Monday-Thursday. Annual salary range is $18,000-$20,000, dependent upon related experience.

Essential Duties/Key Responsibilities:

  • Creation of weekly worship bulletin, weekly online newsletter and other printed and web-based communications.
  • Manage and update church website and social channels, including a social content calendar.
  • Develop and maintain brand standards across all print, web and social media communications that consistently reflect the identity of our parish (appearance, tone, message, etc.)
  • Use MailChimp or other email technology provided to distribute regular communications.
  • Communicate with community partners and volunteers to coordinate and provide various services to the community and the parish.
  • Coordinate with volunteers as needed to gather event and church photo/video needs for publishing purposes.
  • Post YouTube snippets from services or events to website and/or social channels.
  • Maintain online church calendar, working with ministry leads to gather information as needed.
  • Track use of digital media (e.g., email open/click rates, website visits, social channel views, calendar use) to make data-driven decisions on communication delivery, timing and content.
  • Archive communications for future needs and reference; maintain membership records, if requested.
  • Keep current with emerging web technologies through relevant blogs, listservs, and events.
  • Provide some St. Andrew’s office support as requested, such as assisting with office deliveries, receiving visitors, sorting mail or scheduling building usage with internal and external groups. 

Technical Skills/Requirements:

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and Google Suite 
  • Proficiency with social media platforms (e.g., Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, TikTok)
  • Degree or certification in communications or similar field or at least 2 years of work experience doing communications-related tasks
  • Strong written and verbal communications skills
  • Ability to collaborate with diverse groups within the congregation and community
  • Compassion, sensitivity and adherence to confidentiality
  • Helpful gifts include a heart for ministry, a spirit of teamwork and flexibility

Job Scope

This position operates within parameters established by the church leadership team and the supervisory pastor. The Communications Specialist is encouraged to bring ideas regarding improvements in communications or office operations to the supervisory pastor before implementing them. Assessment of job priorities are subject to direction from the supervisory pastor; however, for most daily operations, it is the responsibility of the person in this position to arrange work time accordingly to achieve daily tasks and accomplish assignments and service expectations in a timely fashion. Exceptions to this may be made for activities that do not affect other staff, volunteers or the congregation at large. 

Note that the Communications Specialist’s tasks vary with the church seasons. It is the responsibility of the Communications Specialist to make appropriate time adjustments to accomplish these varying tasks.

Procter Summer Camp, a ministry of Procter Center in the Episcopal Diocese of Southern Ohio, creates a place for children, youth, and families to grow in faith, sing, learn, play and pray in the peaceful farmland of London, Ohio. By demonstrating and encouraging Christian community we are showing daily what the world could be like. At Procter, the camp staff is intentional about sharing God’s love with one another and our campers; children and adults. We seek and serve Christ in all people with whom we interact at camp, modeling joy, respect, and inclusiveness.

Counselors are the primary caregivers for campers.

Counselors are responsible for three distinct areas of camp life: cabin life, Christian formation, and recreational activities. This includes planning, facilitating, coordinating, and cleaning up from activities throughout the camp session, guiding campers in their personal growth, faith, and daily living skills.

Family Camps are open to campers of all ages, counselors do not provide overnight care for children at Family Camp.

Procter Center Farm is a production and educational, 6-acre, diversified vegetable and livestock farm in Central Ohio. We supply Procter Camp & Conference Center with a substantial amount of fresh produce, operate a farmers market stand in Columbus, and Procter Store in London, OH. Each season, we offer up to 30 Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) shares, and donate to local community organizations. We extend our season with a greenhouse, hoop house, raised beds and row covers. Though not certified, we use only use organic practices to grow our food.

At Procter, we recognize the connection between the land, our labor, our food, our bodies, and our spirit. We engage each element with due conscience as we are cultivating healthier persons and a more just society.

Our farm is staffed through our Farm-Hand Internship Program. Each year, we seek three to four people to work 40 hours per week from May through October (full-season), or May to August (short-season). Interns participate in every job a small organic farm requires. This includes, but is not limited to, greenhouse work, high-tunnel work, soil prep, seeding, transplanting, watering, weeding, harvesting, regularly lifting 20 to 50-pound loads, feeding animals, collecting eggs, maintaining equipment, mowing, digging, raking, working farm markets, and sometimes being involved during farm tours for campers and participants. Interns develop their farm skills in our teachable areas within the greenhouse, raised beds, high tunnel, fields, and animal shelters. The Farm Manager provides all the training needed to make sure tools and small motorized equipment are used in a manner that keeps all staff safe. Interns ideally live onsite and are provided room and board. Interns must successfully pass a state and federal background check. A valid driver’s license is required.

Procter is seeking two Conservationists for the months of May, June, and July to assist with our efforts in cleaning up the woodland habitats by removing invasive species. This position would report to the Director of Farm Development and Creation Care Advocacy. Our farm is staffed through our Farmhand Internship Program, which is overseen by our Farm Manager. Alongside the Farmhands, the Conservationist will spend a few days each week farming for Procter, which includes, but is not limited to, soil prep, transplanting, watering, weeding, harvesting, regularly lifting 20 to 50-pound loads, feeding animals, collecting eggs, mowing, and working at farmers markets.

Role and Responsibilities

Assist the Treasurer and Finance committee in the day-to-day operations of the church.

  • Post deposits and debits to ACS as directed
  • Write checks to be signed each week
  • File paperwork appropriately

Assist the Priest-in-Charge (PIC) with communications functions of the church.

  • Work with the PIC to create and finish weekly Sunday bulletins for worship.
  • Work with the PIC to create and finish weekly email communication through Constant Contact.
  • Work with the PIC to solicit articles and create a monthly newsletter for the parish “Lion’s Tale”. 

Be willing to do other tasks as assigned, especially during Lent/Easter and Advent/Christmas seasons.

Qualifications and Education Requirements

  • Associates degree in communications or equivalent experience
  • Able to work with volunteers

Familiarization with liturgical churches preferred

Preferred Skills

  • Proficient using Microsoft Office, especially Word and Publisher
  • Familiar with Constant Contact or other email marketing tools.
  • Attention to detail

Additional Notes

Entrance to the community wing of the church is not wheelchair accessible. Candidates must be able to use standard PC computer equipment and comprehend and follow oral and written instructions. Some weekend hours may be required during certain seasons of the church calendar.

Salary range

$20/hour for no more than 10 hours/week.

Responsibilities: 

  • The development and delivery of an integrated communications strategy for all aspects of church life. 
  • Hours: Normal hours 9 to 1 M-F, but flexibility is required 
  • Reports to: The Rector 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: 

  • Designs and produces all print and web communications, including regular newsletters, parish emails, stewardship materials, and annual reports. Some publications may be produced by parishioners.  In such cases the minister for communication will work with the congregants to ensure consistency of design and coordination with overall marketing strategy.
  • Solicits and edits content and coordinates production of publications with printers, as needed. 
  • Redesigns then Manages parish website, ensuring its maintenance, design, and content are up-to-date. 
  • Develops, reviews, and maintains content for all social media channels. 
  • Oversees the maintenance of graphic resources, including photo library and logos. 
  • Coordinates photography and videography of parish events with volunteers. 
  • Maintains visual identity standards across all print, web, and social media communications. 
  • Coordinates special projects and duties as directed by the Rector and other staff, as appropriate. 
  • All other duties as assigned by Rector.
  • Primary receptionist sharing time with Minister of Administration.

The St. Philip’s Parish Administrator serves part-time and works under the direction of the Rector or Senior Warden. The Parish Administrator supports the church’s administrative needs and is responsible for the work assigned to volunteers who serve the church during office hours. The Parish Administrator is present in the church to cover stated church office hours unless coverage time is otherwise negotiated with the Rector. The Parish Administrator serves as the Rector’s assistant and also works collaboratively with the Junior and Senior Wardens and the Vestry. The Senior Warden will act on the Rector’s behalf during his/her absence.
