SUMMARY:Sharing Your Good News Beyond Your Walls: Media Relations for Churches
DESCRIPTION:Communications leaders — volunteers and staff\, lay and clergy — are invited to spend a Saturday morning digging into media relations for sharing the Good News of God in Christ through your local faith community. \nChurches often have interesting and inspiring ministries and activities taking place\, but they don’t know who to tell people outside the congregation about them. In this workshop we will talk about what makes a good story\, the basics of a news release\, and how to share your news with local media and with others in The Episcopal Church. \n\nWe’re joined by Melodie Woerman\, a church communications professional with decades of experience both pitching and receiving pitches for media stories. Now a freelance writer with bylines in Episcopal News Service\, This Christian Century\, The Living Church\, and more\, Melodie spent seventeen years as the director of communications for the Episcopal Diocese of Kansas. SUMMARY:Upper Arlington Culture and Artisans Fair
DESCRIPTION:Saint Mark’s\, Columbus\, is hosting the third annual UA Culture and Artisans Fair on Saturday May 3 from 10 am to 3 pm. The event will feature approximately 20 artisans from all over the world\, showcasing and selling their handmade items\, as well as delicious food and live music\, and an opportunity to interact with the artisans and hear their stories. \nThe Fair is being presented in partnership with CRIS (Community Refugee and Immigration Services) and many of the artisans will be refugees\, asylum seekers and others building a new life in the Central Ohio area. \nCome and explore a variety of arts and crafts from all over the world\, have fun\, and help us welcome and support some of our new neighbors. \nThe Culture and Artisans Fair is sponsored by the City of Upper Arlington’s Community Relations Innovation Small Grant Program and is part of the Community Relation Committee’s (CRC) UA Welcome Series. \nThe fair will take place on the front lawn of church\, at the corner of Dorset and Tremont Roads.
