SUMMARY:Indigenous Peoples Day celebration
DESCRIPTION:Christ Church Cathedral’s Native American Council will offer a weekend of programming and worship that explores the nexus between Native American spirituality and Christianity. It begins on Saturday\, October 11\, with a workshop that will focus on “The Journey to a Missionary Diocese and Living the Beauty Way.” Worship Services on Sunday will include Indigenous themes. The weekend will also include activities sponsored by the Urban Native Collective. All of the events are free and open to the public. \nSATURDAY\, OCTOBER 11\, 10 am to 2 pm\nThe Journey to a Missionary Diocese and Living the Beauty Way \nThe Rev. Canon Cornelia Eaton (Navajo) has served many roles in the Episcopal Church as a laity before being ordained to the priesthood in 2015. She has served the Episcopal Church in Navajoland as a youth minister\, lay leader and assistant to the Bishop\, and is currently the Canon to the Ordinary. She is a storyteller and a writer of poetry with a particular focus on the Navajo way of life known as Iina Biké Hozhó–being in harmony with divine creation through spirituality\, culture\, tradition\, and relationship. \nThe Rt. Rev. Barry L. Beisner was elected Bishop Provisional of the Missionary Diocese of Navajoland in 2023. Beginning in 2019\, at the invitation of Bishop David Bailey\, + Barry served as an assisting bishop for Navajoland. He served thirteen years as the Bishop of the Diocese of Northern California.
