DESCRIPTION:The Episcopal Church has a legacy of inclusion\, aspiring to tell and exemplify God’s love for every human being. The Diocese of Southern Ohio is committed to providing a significant presence of The Episcopal Church at Pride celebrations in our communities. Across the region\, we sponsor festivals and booths\, march in parades\, and hold Pride Masses. \nPlanning for Pride will begin with a kick-off meeting on Tuesday\, February 27 at 6:30 p.m. Anyone who is interested in being a part of an Episcopal Church presence at a Pride festival in your community is encouraged to attend. DESCRIPTION:On Saturday\, September 28\, pastor and author Colby Martin will lead a five-hour seminar he calls “Why LGBTQIA+ Christianity is Not an Oxymoron\,” at Epiphany Lutheran Church in Pickerington\, Ohio. \nMartin has been a pastor for more than 20 years. His first decade took place within the evangelical world he was born and raised in. The past 12 years have been in post-evangelical\, progressive Christian churches and spaces. He is also the author of UnClobber: Rethinking Our Misuse of the Bible on Homosexuality and The SHIFT: a Survival Guide for Becoming a Progressive Christian. \nAs a traveling speaker and presenter\, Colby continues to advocate for an approach to the Christian faith that is rooted in the Way of Jesus\, while also being adaptive to the world we inhabit. As a leading voice in the progressive Christian movement\, he believes that keeping an open heart and mind is the key to living a life of love and grace for all. A place where their families and allies can learn how to best support their transgender loved one’s spiritual journey. \nThat’s what we’ll be creating together when we gather January 10-12 (Friday evening to Sunday afternoon) for The Divine Knows My Pronouns Retreat. \nWe know that for some\, a religious setting can be challenging for transgender individuals. DESCRIPTION:UPDATE 3/18/25: THIS EVENT IS FULL. CLICK HERE TO BE PUT ON A WAITING LIST \nJoin others in the Diocese of Southern Ohio for a time to coalesce around our mission of inclusion and support for our LGBTQ+ community at a weekend summit and retreat\, March 28-29 at Procter Center. \nTogether we’ll celebrate and learn\, worship and fellowship\, share stories and organize diocesan-wide efforts for inclusion and affirmation. This event is for the LGBTQ+ community and their allies. \nOur keynote speaker is the Rev. Beckett Leclaire. Beckett is the first trans deacon ordained in the Episcopal Diocese of the Great Lakes. He currently serves as ministry developer for the AuSable Inclusion Center\, a New Episcopal Community serving folks marginalized based on their gender\, sexuality\, and/or socioeconomic status in rural northern Michigan. He served on The Episcopal Church Taskforce to Study Household and Relationship Diversity and was named a 2024 Episcopal Church Foundation Fellow. \nOur chaplain for the weekend is the Rev. Phil Hooper\, rector serving St. Anne\, West Chester. Phil came into The Episcopal Church in his 20s after a long journey of integrating his faith and his sexual orientation; he is passionate about spiritual formation\, theological discourse\, and the intersection of contemplation and personal and social transformation. Phil has led church retreats and workshops in a variety of settings and is a contributing author to several Episcopal publications & projects including Sermons that Work\, Earth & Altar\, and the Prophetic Voices preaching podcast. He and his fiancé\, Matt\, live in Liberty Township\, OH. \nOur musician is Brianna Kelly\, a multimedia artist\, musician\, and community song leader born and raised in rural Kentucky and living in Cincinnati\, OH with her spouse\, Stephen\, and their dog\, Slam Dunk. She has spent the last decade in various roles exploring the intersection of the arts\, contemplative spirituality\, and community building\, while performing\, recording\, and touring in several bands in the Cincinnati music scene. \nLearn more about the Diocese of Southern Ohio’s efforts around LGBTQ+ inclusion here. \nSCHEDULE \nArrival between 4-6 pm on Friday\nDeparture by 4:30 pm on Saturday \nREGISTRATION \nThe cost to participate has been subsidized to $100 per person. DESCRIPTION:LOVEboldly\, a nonprofit dedicated to creating spaces where LGBTQIA+ people can flourish in faith communities\, will host an open forum event titled Reconciling Religion\, Race\, and Really Queer People from 5:30 to 9 pm on January 15th\, 2026 in Clifton at 103 William Howard Taft Rd\, Cincinnati\, OH 45219-2180 (The Geier Room at Mt. Auburn Presbyterian Church). \nThe forum will feature a diverse panel of leaders and thinkers addressing some of today’s most pressing issues: the intersections of religion\, race\, and LGBTQIA+ identities in America. Panelists will explore how faith communities can move beyond division and toward healing\, inclusion\, and justice. \n“Across the U.S.\, Christian nationalism\, racial inequities\, and hostility toward LGBTQIA+ people are tearing communities apart\,” said Rev. Dr. Ben Huelskamp\, Executive Director of LOVEboldly. “This forum creates a space where those conversations can be honest\, hopeful\, and healing.” \nPanelists \nSiobhan Boyd-Nelson (she/her) is a Columbus-based attorney\, nonprofit leader\, and advocate with more than two decades of service to Ohio’s LGBTQ+ community. A graduate of Howard University and The Ohio State University Moritz College of Law\, she has held senior leadership roles at Kaleidoscope Youth Center\, Stonewall Columbus\, and Equality Ohio\, including Interim Executive Director. Siobhan currently serves as board president of Black\, OUT & Proud and board chair of LOVEBoldly. \nPastor Terry T. Hocker (he/they) is a black\, trans\, Cincinnati-based minister and community organizer with 16+ years of experience serving marginalized communities. Known for their inclusive\, justice-centered faith\, Terry leads outreach work focused on dignity\, healing\, and radical love in action. \nJenny Jackson (she/her) is a fully affirming\, certified Spiritual Director and Associate Director of Roots & Branches in Cincinnati. She has over 15 years of experience counseling families and couples as an occupational therapist\, spiritual guide and Enneagram consultant. Jenny is the mother of 5 bi-racial children\, one of which identifies as queer. \nTyler Chernesky (he/him) is a storyteller\, writer and community organizer who serves as Program Director at Cincinnati-based nonprofit\, Community Happens Here. He holds a Master of Divinity degree\, served as a pastor at two churches and spent years as a gay man working at the intersection of spirituality and sexuality.

DESCRIPTION:In a world that often expects our silence or our sorrow\, LGBTQ+ Episcopalians and their allies are invited to gather for our second annual diocesan LGBTQ+ retreat\, a weekend of Defiant Queer Joy. \nExploring our theme\, Unbounded and Radiant: Defiant Joy for the Queer Follower of Christ\, we will examine and reclaim a truth as old as the empty tomb: that our very existence is a living testimony to the Paschal Mystery. This retreat offers a celebration of the unique ways the LGBTQ+ community mirrors the movement from the shadows of the cross to the brilliance of new life. \nThe Rev. Julia Joyce-Miesse\, rector serving St. Luke’s\, Granville\, will serve as our chaplain for the weekend with music led by Anny Stevens-Gleason\, minister for congregational development at Church of the Redeemer\, Hyde Park and member of the diocesan liturgical commission. Our time together will culminate in a celebratory Eucharist\, Bishop Kristin White celebrating. \nTogether\, we’ll create a sacred space for fellowship and teaching\, rest and play\, and further form connection with one another as fertile ground from which a revolutionary hope springs forth.
