DESCRIPTION:The Episcopal Church has a legacy of inclusion\, aspiring to tell and exemplify God’s love for every human being. The Diocese of Southern Ohio is committed to providing a significant presence of The Episcopal Church at Pride celebrations in our communities. Across the region\, we sponsor festivals and booths\, march in parades\, and hold Pride Masses. \nPlanning for Pride will begin with a kick-off meeting on Tuesday\, February 27 at 6:30 p.m. Anyone who is interested in being a part of an Episcopal Church presence at a Pride festival in your community is encouraged to attend. SUMMARY:Pride Arts Showcase
DESCRIPTION:Thanks in part to grants from Cincinnati Pride and the CCM Harmony Fund\, Lives United/Vidas Unidas will host a cross-disciplinary event featuring LGBTQIA+ artists of Cincinnati during a one-night extravaganza at the Church of Our Saviour/La Iglesia de Nuestro Salvador on Monday\, March 31 at 6 pm. The event will celebrate performing\, visual\, and culinary LGBTQIA+ artists\, most of whom live and work in Cincinnati. Emphasis will be placed on promoting young artists whose art reflects their personal experiences as queer people. The event will begin with an 90-minute performance of these artists’ work. A reception will follow with catering and a visual art installation for attendees to observe and enjoy. Approximately 100 people are expected to attend this event in person\, and hundreds more will join our livestream audience on Facebook and YouTube.\n\nIn observance of Transgender Day of Visibility\, many of the artists invited to perform at this event identify as trans or non-binary. All other artists who do not identify this way will be members of the LGBTQIA+ community or our allies. Artists who are confirmed to participate include musicians from the Poiesis Quartet\, Microbat\, singer-songwriter Garen Gibson\, poet Kay E. Bancroft\, visual artist and drag queen Kyle Angel (Crystal Tubes)\, and drag king Alexander Cameron. Several current and graduate CCM students are confirmed to perform\, including clarinetists Marian Mayen and Casey McGuire.\n\nAnother special guest artist included in this event is Puerto Rican composer\, vocalist\, and pianist Victor Cabezas. We recently commissioned Victor to write a new woodwind ensemble piece with a grant from the CCM Harmony Fund. Victor lives in Cincinnati and will join us for a residency in Cincinnati to rehearse the new work and have it premiered at the concert by the New Downbeat & Friends ensemble.\n\nThis event is free\, ticket reservations are recommended. Parade at 11 am\, festival 12 to 9 pm at Sawyer Point and Yeatman’s Cove on the Ohio River. \nParade information\n\nAll participants please meet at:\n\n10:15 AM\nCorner of 7th and Central Parkway Avenue\nOnce the vehicles/floats are situated/setup\, a grand marshal will instruct groups to head to their respective float locations\n\n\nDSO Float Location in the Parade Lineup\n\nYellow (middle) Lane\nLot #29\n\n\nThings to note for DSO parade participants\n\nThere is limited space for riding on the float for those who can’t walk the route\nWater and snacks will be provided\nDo not walk in or block the emergency lane that is included this year\nAll items that we have to give out must be physically handed to the parade viewers. Please do not throw any items to people in the crowd.\n\n\n\nFestival information\nWe are located in booth 237 next to the Teen Zone. This is located in Zone A.
