We’ll share about our experience\, about pertinent resolutions\, and will invite comments and questions. \nThe General Convention of The Episcopal Church meets every three years as the primary governing body of the church. Formed as a bicameral legislature\, elected clergy and laity from each diocese serve in the House of Deputies and each bishop serves in the House of Bishops. \nRegister for this meeting here. DESCRIPTION:In this election season\, as heightened division and fear impacts our church communities\, how can Episcopalians equip themselves to build and maintain relationships that are fundamental to our common life? This workshop will focus on civil discourse as a critical tool for bridging partisan divides\, learning from one another\, and creating better solutions for our communities. But what is civil discourse? How does it differ from civility? \nBased on the online class created by The Episcopal Church and ChurchNext\, we will explore developing individual and community capacity for civil discourse\, applying it to public policy conversations\, and assessing how civil discourse co-exists with other types of personal and institutional engagement. \nThis workshop\, led by Alan Yarborough of the Episcopal Church’s Office of Government Relations\, will focus on civil discourse as a critical tool for bridging partisan divides\, learning from one another\, and creating better solutions for our communities. \nRegister in advance for this meeting at this link.
