SUMMARY:Dismantling Racism training (February)
DESCRIPTION:Join the Diocese of Southern Ohio in dismantling systems of oppression\, telling the truth\, and building capacity to be seekers of Beloved Community in our church and in the world. \nThis dismantling racism course is for all clergy and lay people who are required to complete anti-racism training. It’s also for anyone who wishes to build relationships with people across the diocese and seeks to build the beloved community in this corner of God’s creation. We share stories\, scripture\, and the tenets of our faith. Join us. \nThis course is on Tuesday\, Wednesday\, and Thursday afternoons\, February 4\, 5\, 6\, 11\, 12\, and 13\, from noon to 1 p.m. Eastern. Bring your lunch! \nAttend all sessions for certification. SUMMARY:Beloved Community Book Study: The Serviceberry
DESCRIPTION:As we work toward becoming Beloved Community in Southern Ohio\, books can help us explore paths toward healing and reconciliation. Like the stories from holy scripture\, stories in books offer a common language and equal ground to discuss challenging issues and topics while building community. \nEach first Tuesday of the month\, we will gather\, pray\, and discuss a book the hosts believe will bring us closer to the dream God has for us as God’s beloved children. Our title for February and March is The Serviceberry: Abundance and Reciprocity in the Natural World by Robin Wall Kimmerer. Participants can request a free copy of the book on the RSVP form. \nReading the book is not mandatory for this book study! Whether you read a few pages or the whole book\, our conversation will be better with you there. Just prepare for spoilers! We’ll talk about the book—our favorite parts\, where we see ourselves\, and what this book has to do with us\, our faith communities\, and our diocese. \nJoin us to discuss texts vital to our understanding of the beloved community in the Diocese of Southern Ohio and beyond. \nOur discussion of The Serviceberry takes place February 4 and March  from 7 to 8 pm.
