SUMMARY:Faith Days at Tikkun Farm
DESCRIPTION:A multi-faith volunteer gathering held on the third Saturday of each month\, Big Book Moments at Tikkun Farm\, are designed for all ages and abilities\, and is a great opportunity to have a spiritual experience while listening for God’s voice in the Big Book of Creation. SUMMARY:Making Room at the Table: The story of the Philadelphia Eleven
DESCRIPTION:An exclusive showing of The Philadelphia Eleven is scheduled for Saturday\, January 20 at 10 a.m. at the Esquire Theater in Cincinnati. \nThe documentary film shows how a brave group of women shattered the stained-glass ceiling on July 29\, 1974\, by challenging the very core of patriarchal culture to seek ordination as priests in the Episcopal Church. It is a powerful story of faith and conviction. It is a story for all of us\, regardless of faith tradition. \nThere is a suggested donation of $10 per person.

Yet\, in Black communities\, climate change is seen as less urgent when compared to other pressing issues\, including police brutality\, gun violence\, job security\, food insecurity\, and the blatant racism faced daily around the country. However\, with Black Americans disproportionately impacted by the effects of climate change—making up 13 percent of the US population but breathing 40 percent dirtier air and being twice as likely to be hospitalized or die from climate-related health problems than white counterparts—climate change is a central issue of racial justice and affects every aspect of life for Black communities. In Before the Streetlights Come On\, climate activist Heather McTeer Toney insists that those most affected by climate change are best suited to lead the movement for climate justice. \nMcTeer Toney brings her background in politics\, community advocacy\, and leadership in environmental justice to this revolutionary exploration of why and how Black Americans are uniquely qualified to lead national and global conversations around systems of racial disparity and solutions to the climate crisis. As our country delves deeper into solutions for systemic racism and past injustices\, she argues\, the environmental movement must shift direction and leadership toward those most affected and most affecting change: Black communities. \nIf you plan to attend and will commit to reading the book prior to the event\, we invite you to request a free copy of the book\, here. Free copies will be available to the first 20 people who request the book.

SUMMARY:Scripture's Spectrum: Queer\, Trans\, and Non-Binary Bible Readings
DESCRIPTION:Wednesday Evenings in Lent at Christ Church\, Dayton\nSoup supper served at 6 p.m.\, program starts at 6:15 p.m. \n\nThe stories of the Bible capture humanity’s quest to understand ourselves and our relationship with God. This makes it vitally important to see the full range of humanity represented and belonging in God’s family.  In this series\, taught by Bible scholar Dr. Esther Brownsmith\, we will move beyond the “clobber texts” to seek out biblical stories of people who range across the spectrum of gender and sexuality. By reflecting on these stories and their positive portrayals of embodied identities\, we will learn how to embrace ourselves and our neighbors more fully\, confident in God’s abundant love. \nFebruary 21: Joseph and the Rainbow Princess Dress\nFebruary 28: Redefining Masculinity with Daniel the Eunuch\nMarch 6: “Whither Thou Goest”: Ruth’s Sapphic Steadfastness\nMarch 13: The Non-Binary Wisdom of Mordecai and Qohelet\nMarch 20: Imagining a Genderfluid God
