DESCRIPTION:The fourth season of the Red Door Community Concert series at Holy Trinity\, Oxford\, kicks off with music by the Jimmy Leach Jazztet on Friday\, September 13 at 12:15 p.m. \nOakwood resident and University of Dayton music professor\, Jimmy Leach\, plays trumpet and sings a wide range of jazz music\, including works composed or performed by Billy Strayhorn\, Duke Ellington\, Cole Porter\, Chet Baker\, Ella Fitzgerald\, Sarah Vaughan\, Tom Jobim\, and Richard Rodgers. He has appeared locally at the Dayton Art Institute\, the Levitt Pavilion\, and the Masonic Temple. Jimmy’s past performances include shows with Shirley Jones\, Johnny Mathis\, and T. S. Monk\, Jr. Jimmy is accompanied by bassist\, Chris Berg\, pianist Chris Caporale\, and drummer Jim Leslie. \nRed Door Community Concerts are always free and open to the public. Limited free street parking available. The concerts are also available on the Holy Trinity YouTube channel.

DESCRIPTION:On Saturday\, September 28\, pastor and author Colby Martin will lead a five-hour seminar he calls “Why LGBTQIA+ Christianity is Not an Oxymoron\,” at Epiphany Lutheran Church in Pickerington\, Ohio. \nMartin has been a pastor for more than 20 years. His first decade took place within the evangelical world he was born and raised in. The past 12 years have been in post-evangelical\, progressive Christian churches and spaces. He is also the author of UnClobber: Rethinking Our Misuse of the Bible on Homosexuality and The SHIFT: a Survival Guide for Becoming a Progressive Christian. \nAs a traveling speaker and presenter\, Colby continues to advocate for an approach to the Christian faith that is rooted in the Way of Jesus\, while also being adaptive to the world we inhabit. As a leading voice in the progressive Christian movement\, he believes that keeping an open heart and mind is the key to living a life of love and grace for all.
