SUMMARY:Lenten Book Study: Good Inside
DESCRIPTION:Buy your copy on Bookshop.org and support local booksellers.\nThis virtual Lenten book study is for parents and caregivers at all ages and stages. Together we’ll be reading Good Inside by child psychologist Dr. Becky Kennedy\, placing her ideas alongside our Baptismal Covenant. \nWe’ll explore what it means to raise children who are already loved\, worthy\, and held by God. We’ll also reflect on how a compassionate\, relationship-centered approach to parenting resonates with our baptismal promises: to seek Christ in all people\, to respect the dignity of every human being\, and to grow together in love. \nThrough honest conversation and practical reflection\, parents and caregivers will be supported in translating these shared values into everyday family life. We’ll also learn more about giving ourselves grace when we miss the mark with our kids! \nNo theology background required—just curiosity\, openness\, and a desire to learn. Groups may choose to join the Zoom meeting from a common location\, or participate individually from home. \nThis book study gathers on Wednesday evenings from 7-8 pm from February 25 to April 1 and takes place on Zoom. All are welcome. This study is especially geared toward parents and caregivers. \nREGISTER HERE \nQuestions about this event?\nEmail Rev. Olivia Hamilton\, missioner for lifelong formation\, at ohamilton@diosohio.org.

SUMMARY:Order of Naucratius Hog Camp Retreat
DESCRIPTION:MARCH 17 – 22 and/or April 7-12\nCLINTON\, LOUISIANA \nThe Order of Naucratius in Southern Ohio is a society within the Episcopal Church. Here in the Episcopal Diocese of Southern Ohio\, the order makes its spiritual home at Procter Center. \nMembers of the Order of Naucratius commit to three rules of life: Prayer\, Conservation\, and Charity. We believe that hunting and fishing are sacred activities. We are grateful for God’s gifts\, and we hope to use our skills and endeavors to help spread God’s Kingdom. Our main activity is to share portions of our harvests with those who are hungry. \nThis is the fifth year that we will gather in Clinton\, Louisiana\, for a wild hog hunt retreat. Participants from chapters in Oklahoma\, Western Missouri\, Michigan\, and DSO will join with friends from around the US. This hog hunt contributes to the care of creation by reducing feral hog populations and preventing damage to farmland and local water sources. A portion of the protein harvested from this hunt will be donated to food pantries local to the participants\, helping to feed those in need. \n2026 Details\nIn addition to hunting\, this hunt retreat will include times of worship\, prayer\, and fellowship. Our final gathering is Church on Sunday morning. \n\nAccommodations range from a bunkhouse\, a rustic shelter with cots\, campsites\, and barn lofts.\nThere are both indoor and outdoor bathroom facilities open to all.\nMeals are provided as part of the cost and communal at lunch time\, where prayer\, hunting assignments\, and any updates are shared.\nCamp coordinator: John White\nCamp chaplain: the Rev. Christian Baron\nHospitality coordinators: the Rev. Collin Larimore\, Jerusalem and Nathan Greer\nHunt coordinators: the Rev. Sarah Smith and Corey Jerome\nCost of registration is $500 and includes lodging and meals.\nParticipants are responsible for licenses. SUMMARY:African Americans and the Bible Book Study
DESCRIPTION:Tuesdays in April from 6-7:30 pm on Zoom\nJoin the Episcopal Diocese of Southern Ohio this April for an engaging and transformative formation opportunity: African Americans and the Bible. \nThis four-week study invites participants into a deeper understanding of the historical and cultural relationship between African Americans and Holy Scripture. Grounded in The Talking Book by Allen Dwight Callahan\, this course explores how African Americans encountered\, interpreted\, proclaimed\, and embodied the Bible in the midst of enslavement and the ongoing struggle for freedom and dignity. \nFor generations\, the Bible has been more than a sacred text in African American communities—it has been a source of hope\, resistance\, identity\, spiritual wrestling\, and spiritual power. Together\, we will examine how this “talking book” has shaped faith\, worship\, preaching\, and public witness. Participants will gain a richer appreciation for Scripture as it has been read and lived through the cultural lens of African Americans\, broadening and deepening their own engagement with the Word of God. \nWhether you are clergy\, a lay leader\, or someone seeking to grow in faith and understanding\, this study offers space for learning\, reflection\, and meaningful conversation. Come ready to listen\, to learn\, and to encounter the Bible anew. We look forward to walking this journey together. \n\nQuestions about this event and program?\n\nContact the Rev. Aaron Rogers\, missioner for Black ministries\, at arogers@diosohio.org. \nRegistration \nThere is no cost for this program and no deadline to register. The first ten people to register will receive a complimentary copy of The Talking Book by Dr. Callahan. \nREGISTER HERE

SUMMARY:Central Regional Staff Work Day
DESCRIPTION:In 2025\, we took important steps in reinvigorating connections across churches at the regional level in the Diocese of Southern Ohio. We experimented with Regional Staff Work Days\, in which diocesan staff traveled together to sites around the diocese\, increasing access to in-person meetings and fellowship with local leaders. At the same time\, a task force met and gathered with lay and clergy leaders for conversation and input about the ways we gather across geography\, a process that resulted in the creation of four new regions. \nAs a continuation of that investment in accessibility and connection\, the diocesan staff will once again hit the road in 2026\, offering opportunities to meet\, learn\, celebrate\, and connect beyond the walls of your own church. \nIn each region of the diocese\, the diocesan staff will be present for Staff Work Days\, offering the opportunity for drop-in fellowship and appointments with local leaders\, reducing barriers for face-to-face connection. \nCentral Region: Friday\, April 24 \n10-11 am – Drop-in Fellowship Hour with light snacks and coffee.\n11-3 pm – Staff available for pre-made appointments. \nNo RSVP required to join the Regional Staff Days\, but please make an appointment if wanting to meet with staff. \nSchedule with staff member
