DESCRIPTION:The Ascension & Holy Trinity Summer Concert Series returns to the Gathering Place this summer! Free hamburgers and hot dogs will be cooked on the grill\, and everyone is encouraged to bring a dish to share and their own beverages (water will be provided). In case of inclement weather\, the concerts will move indoors. Let’s have a wonderful time this summer on the Gathering Place! All are Welcome because All Belong! \nChris Caporale Quartet\nWednesday\, July 17 | 6:30 pm \n\nChris Caporale is a Cincinnati-based jazz pianist and educator. At a young age\, Chris gravitated toward the piano\, sparking a lifelong passion for improvisation in all its forms. His fresh\, forward driven sound at the piano is equally balanced with his deep appreciation for the jazz tradition\, evident in the bluesy touch and thoughtful rhythms in his playing. A 2022 graduate of the University of Cincinnati-College Conservatory of Music\, Chris maintains an active performance schedule and can be heard in venues all across the region. Recent performance accolades include being the Yamaha prize winner and finalist in the 2022 American Jazz Pianist Competition\, as well as receiving a piano honorable mention at the Jazz at Lincoln Center’s 2022 Jack Rudin competition. In addition to performing\, Chris is an active educator\, teaching Jazz Piano as adjunct faculty at Xavier University\, and he is the collaborative jazz pianist for Northern Kentucky University’s vocal jazz program.

DESCRIPTION:Partners in Ministry in Liberia\, or PIMIL\, will hold its 15th annual PIMIL International Luncheon & Silent Auction Fundraising on Saturday\, July 20 at St. Philip’s\, Columbus\, from 12:30 to 3:30 p.m. The delicious International Luncheon menu this year includes\, for the first time\, delicious Liberian Chicken Gravy (with or without tomato). Variations of the recipe will be available for purchase. \nMilestones at this year’s event also include the publication: “The Story of PIMIL\,” and “Spirituals sung in Liberia”. \nThe event is a family activity\, with the children enjoying activities such as drum circles\, making grass skirts and accessories\, and much more. Come and reconnect with friends and make new ones! \nThe fundraising goal is $25\,000. Tickets are $20 for adults\, children 5 to 19 years old: $10. Children under 4 are free! Funds raised support the education of over 200 students in Liberia that include Ebola and COVID-19 orphans.
