SUMMARY:When Church is not Enough: Religious Life Sunday event
DESCRIPTION:updated 1/22/26: This event has been postponed by the organizers \nAre you hungry for more? Are you looking to love God more deeply\, to serve the Church and the world in significant ways\, to find authentic\, intentional Christian community? Have you looked at monastic life within the Episcopal Church? Is God calling you to a deeper relationship? On January 25—Religious Life Sunday\, you can put your desire into action. Follow this link to find out more: https://www.religiouslifesunday.net/ \nAs you find out more\, you’ll see that there are 19 canonically recognized Christian communities in the Episcopal Church and 20 religious orders that are part of the worldwide Anglican (Episcopal) Communion. Several of these organizations have members from the Diocese of Southern Ohio. They follow many different paths\, but are all centered in Christ and live by a Rule of Life and obedience to their community. All of them are shifting the love of power into the power of love. \nIf you are a member of a Religious community or curious about it\, you are invited to join us in conversation and celebrate Eucharist with your brothers and sisters\, and find out more. We gather on Sunday\, January 25 at 3 pm at the Community of the Transfiguration in Cincinnati. Bishop Nedi Rivera\, Companion TSSF\, is joining us and will offer Eucharist at 4:30 pm. And the Sisters are hosting supper afterwards. \nIn order to finalize the details\, we want to hear from you. Please contact Janet Fedders\, TSSF. Her email is janetfedders@tssf.org\, or telephone 513-479-7549.

SUMMARY:Advocacy Workshop: Countering Extremism through Engagement
DESCRIPTION:As Episcopalians\, do you find yourself asking the following questions? \n\nAs Christians how do we take the principles we hear from the pulpit and apply them in a Christlike way to our shared public life in Ohio?\nHow do we counter the extremism operating in our state without cultivating hate for others?\nHow can the church be a place of healing and liberation for both the oppressor and the oppressed?\nHow does the Ohio statehouse work?\nHow can we begin to organize for the dignity of our neighbors and affect meaningful policy change at the state level now?\n\nJoin Trinity\, Capitol Square and other leaders across the Diocese of Southern Ohio on Saturday\, January 31 to explore each of these questions and more as we gather together to inspire\, inform and catalyze our commitment to loving our neighbors in Ohio. \nKeynote Speaker Maria Bruno will offer a compelling vision of how we fight extremism in Ohio’s state and local government by building community\, holding out hope for transformation and not spreading hate. Then\, Rachel Coyle will lead a seminar\, “How Things Work at the Ohio Statehouse?” for a non-partisan nuts and bolts look at both the political process that results in bills being passed and how to advocate effectively for issues in Ohio. And then finally\, the Rev. Nick Bates will share how people of faith are currently organizing at the state level and facilitate small group discussions for how we can leave this gathering ready to engage as Episcopalians.
