DESCRIPTION:Responding to the Presiding Bishop’s call for public worship on the Monday of Holy Week\, Bishop White invites the Dioceses of Ohio and Southern Ohio to a service of prayer and public witness inside the rotunda at the Ohio Statehouse. \nHoly Week draws Christians into the story of Jesus’ final days—days marked by courage\, confrontation with injustice\, and a steadfast commitment to love in the face of fear and violence. In this moment in our common life\, many feel the weight of division\, hostility\, and rising extremism in public life. As people of faith\, we gather not to deepen those divisions but to bear witness to another way. \nThrough prayer\, song\, and presence in the public square\, we will offer a visible reminder that the Gospel calls Christians to stand for human dignity\, mercy\, and peace. DESCRIPTION:Bishop White invites the clergy of the Diocese of Southern Ohio to gather together on the Tuesday of Holy Week for our annual Eucharist\, renewing ordination vows together and blessing the chrism oil used throughout the diocese in the next year. \nThe Chrism Mass highlights the ministry we share together; a bishop’s ministry is extended symbolically by the chrism oil that will be used in baptism in each faith community of our diocese over the next year. In praying together the renewal of our vows\, we’re reminded of the commitments made to God and God’s Beloved Community at the time of ordination. \nClergy are invited to vest for the service wearing choir dress (black cassock and white surplice) with white stoles. Together we’ll be reading Good Inside by child psychologist Dr. Becky Kennedy\, placing her ideas alongside our Baptismal Covenant. \nWe’ll explore what it means to raise children who are already loved\, worthy\, and held by God. We’ll also reflect on how a compassionate\, relationship-centered approach to parenting resonates with our baptismal promises: to seek Christ in all people\, to respect the dignity of every human being\, and to grow together in love. \nThrough honest conversation and practical reflection\, parents and caregivers will be supported in translating these shared values into everyday family life. We’ll also learn more about giving ourselves grace when we miss the mark with our kids! \nNo theology background required—just curiosity\, openness\, and a desire to learn.
