SUMMARY:Eastern Regional Staff Work Day
DESCRIPTION:In 2025\, we took important steps in reinvigorating connections across churches at the regional level in the Diocese of Southern Ohio. We experimented with Regional Staff Work Days\, in which diocesan staff traveled together to sites around the diocese\, increasing access to in-person meetings and fellowship with local leaders. At the same time\, a task force met and gathered with lay and clergy leaders for conversation and input about the ways we gather across geography\, a process that resulted in the creation of four new regions. \nAs a continuation of that investment in accessibility and connection\, the diocesan staff will once again hit the road in 2026\, offering opportunities to meet\, learn\, celebrate\, and connect beyond the walls of your own church. \nIn each region of the diocese\, the diocesan staff will be present for Staff Work Days\, offering the opportunity for drop-in fellowship and appointments with local leaders\, reducing barriers for face-to-face connection. \nEastern Region: Friday\, July 24\, Good Shepherd\, Athens \n10-11 am – Drop-in Fellowship Hour with light snacks and coffee.\n11-3 pm – Staff available for pre-made appointments. \nNo RSVP required to join the Regional Staff Days\, but please make an appointment if wanting to meet with staff. \nSchedule with staff member

SUMMARY:Beloved Community Book Study
DESCRIPTION:We all belong in the Beloved Community book study. Each first Tuesday of the month\, we gather\, pray\, and discuss a book the hosts believe will bring us closer to the dream God has for us as God’s beloved children. \nOur April\, May\, June book is The Night Is Long but Light Comes in the Morning: Meditations for Racial Healing by Catherine Meeks! Request a complimentary copy of the book in the format of your choice: hardcover\, paperback\, audible or kindle. \nReading the book is not mandatory for this book study! Whether you read a few pages or the whole book\, our conversation will be better with you there. Just prepare for spoilers! We’ll talk about the book—our favorite parts\, where we see ourselves\, and what this book has to do with us\, our faith communities\, and our diocese. \nWe will meet on:\nApril 7\, 2026\nMay 5\, 2026\nJune 2\, 2026 \nREGISTER HERE \nThere is no registration deadline\, however\, if requesting to be mailed a copy of the book\, please register no later than March 31. \nQuestions about this event?\nContact Miriam McKenney\, missioner for Beloved Community\, at mmckenney@diosohio.org.

SUMMARY:Dismantling Racism training
DESCRIPTION:Receive the canonically required anti-racism certification by completing this course via Zoom with Miriam McKenney\, Missioner for Beloved Community\, and co-leaders. Miriam uses picture books in this training to discover\, explore\, discuss\, and share stories. We’ll explore topics you may not have learned about in your formal education but are crucial to our understanding as we work to repair\, heal\, and see God in each other. \nBring your lunch! We will share stories\, scripture\, and solutions to dismantle racism in our corner of God’s creation. \nAttend all sessions for certification. You can make up a session in the future if you miss one. \nRegister for this training here. \nEmail Miriam McKenney to learn more. \nIf this training is full\, sign up for the waiting list here. Or check here for a list of 2026 trainings.
