The Society of St. Simeon and St. Anna will induct 18 new members as the Class of 2023 at their annual meeting and celebratory luncheon on May 17 at the Procter Center. This will be the first in-person meeting of the Society since 2019. The celebration will begin with Eucharist in Christ Chapel at 11 a.m. A luncheon in the dining hall will follow the service.

The new members of the Society are:

Mary Kay Arbogast, St. Patrick’s, Dublin; the Rev. John Bower, Louise Bower and Penny Young, Christ Church, Glendale; Sherry Conard, Trinity, Troy; Bill Darling, Hank Fresch, and Tony Thomas, All Saints, New Albany; Judy Handy, Grace Church, Cincinnati; William Hanes, St. Luke’s, Granville; the Rev. Robert Howell, St. John’s, Cambridge; Kim McCracken, Ascension & Holy Trinity, Wyoming; Eileen and Jim Moon, St. Anne’s, West Chester; Jim Peebles, St. Luke’s, Marietta; Tickie Shull, Trinity, Newark; William Richard Walton, Christ Church, Ironton; and Mignonne Whitlow, St. Stephen’s, Columbus. Because their induction ceremonies were held online during COVID, honorees from the Classes of 2020 and 2021 will also be recognized at the event.

The Society of St. Simeon and St. Anna was begun in 1995 as a way to honor and celebrate the ministry of older persons in the Diocese of Southern Ohio. Each year individuals are invited to nominate those members of their congregations who are a positive image of the contributions of aging members. Over the 27 years of its existence, the Society has inducted nearly 250 individuals. You can see the full list of members here.

Anyone wishing to attend the luncheon must RSVP before May 7. The cost is $18 per person. There is no charge for the current honorees.
