Friends in Christ,
I am thrilled to share that we have called the next member of our diocesan staff, joining our team and leadership across the diocese in embodying the Gospel of Jesus Christ and sharing in God’s transformation of our communities with the Holy Spirit as our guide!
Dr. Sarah Simko will join our team as Executive Assistant to the Canon to the Ordinary, supporting the Rev. Canon Jodi Baron, managing her calendar, correspondence, and other day-to-day administrative operations.

Sarah comes to our diocese from the Diocese of Michigan where she serves as associate organist and communications coordinator for the Cathedral Church of St. Paul, Detroit and as adjunct faculty instructor at Madonna University in Livonia, MI. Sarah, who holds a DMA in Musical Arts in Performance (Organ) from the University of Michigan, brings extensive experience from the parish context, having been employed in various roles with several other congregations including University Presbyterian Church, Rochester, MI; Bethany Presbyterian Church, Greece, NY; Christ Church Cranbrook, Bloomfield Hills, MI; and St. Andrew’s, Ann Arbor, MI. She is in the process of relocating to Cincinnati.
Sarah begins in this new role on June 25th. Once she begins, she can be reached at ssimko@diosohio.org.
Last fall, we began the restructuring of our staff to align with the new mission and priorities of our diocese. With Sarah’s arrival, and the Rev. Aaron Rogers joining us mid-June as missioner for Black ministries, we have only one position left to fill to be fully staffed: our Canon for Finance and Operations. The search is underway – click here to learn more and share with your network.
Please join me in welcoming Sarah to our DSO team.
In Christ,
The Rt. Rev. Kristin Uffelman White
Bishop
Diocese of Southern Ohio
