Beloved Community Book Study: The Serviceberry

As we work toward becoming Beloved Community in Southern Ohio, books can help us explore paths toward healing and reconciliation. Like the stories from holy scripture, stories in books offer a common language and equal ground to discuss challenging issues and topics while building community.
Each first Tuesday of the month, we will gather, pray, and discuss a book the hosts believe will bring us closer to the dream God has for us as God’s beloved children. Our title for February and March is The Serviceberry: Abundance and Reciprocity in the Natural World by Robin Wall Kimmerer. Participants can request a free copy of the book on the RSVP form.
Reading the book is not mandatory for this book study! Whether you read a few pages or the whole book, our conversation will be better with you there. Just prepare for spoilers! We’ll talk about the book—our favorite parts, where we see ourselves, and what this book has to do with us, our faith communities, and our diocese.
Join us to discuss texts vital to our understanding of the beloved community in the Diocese of Southern Ohio and beyond.
Our discussion of The Serviceberry takes place February 4 and March from 7 to 8 pm. There is no cost to participate in the Beloved Community Book Study. Please RSVP to receive your Zoom link and to request the book.
