No King but the King of Kings: Palm Processions to No Kings Rallys

March 28 @ 12:00 pm - 3:00 pm

As Christians who observe Palm Sunday, we recognize the difference between earthly kingdoms (good or bad) and the Kingdom of Heaven, whose ruler is our Triune God. When we call out “Hosanna” we are calling out to God, “Lord Save Us!!” The root of this word, “Hosanna,” is the same word that gives us the Name of Jesus, the one who saves. And so, on this day of palms, we see that God answers our cries by sending us the divine Word incarnate, Jesus Christ, who alone can save us from ourselves and the time of trial.

It is part of our liturgical tradition to march in the public square on Palm Sunday to call attention to the Kingship of our Savior. All are invited to join into a demonstration of Christian Love a day early. Gather one hour prior to the rally for prayer and organizing. In Cincinnati, meet at Christ Church Cathedral at noon (rally 1-3 pm) and in Columbus, meet at Trinity on Capitol Square at 3 pm (rally 4 to 6 pm). Bring palms, processional crosses, thuribles, acolyte torches, robes/vestments, banners, signs, a Sharpie marker, telephone, weather appropriate clothing, good shoes and a water bottle. The liturgical color is red.
