Sacred Decision Making Workshop
November 7, 2025 @ 7:00 pm - November 8, 2025 @ 4:00 pm

On November 7-8 Marcia Patton and Nora Percival will present a two day workshop on consensus decision-making at St. Stephen’s, Columbus.
Marcia and Nora are the authors of Sacred Decision Making: Consensus in Faith Communities. Consensus decision-making in a church setting promotes inclusivity, is more egalitarian and less patriarchal than other decision-making models, encourages a collaborative spirit, fosters the emergence of unanticipated solutions, offers an alternative to avoiding issues for fear of stirring up trouble, demonstrates the belief that everyone’s voice is important, and shows that the people in the room are more important than the decision in question. It embodies the belief that how we work together is as important as what we do and it clearly invites God into the process. Throughout the training Patton and Percival will provide real-life examples, planning and meeting ideas, and essential steps to develop a consensus decision-making model. This training is for anyone who wants to explore a method of decision-making that can truly be considered a “kingdom-practice.”
The workshop will take place at Saint Stephen’s (30 W. Woodruff Avenue). The Friday evening portion will run from 7:00 – 8:30 PM, and the Saturday session will run from 9-4 with a break for lunch. Attendees are expected to attend both sessions. The workshop is free, but registration is limited. Go to ststephenscolumbus.org to register.
