Dear People of God,
You are made of earthly dust and sacred breath. You are God’s own handiwork.
During the forty days of Lent that begin today, I pray that you will find and be found, again and again, by the God who created and redeemed you. Through the faithful practices of self-examination and repentance, prayer and fasting, and reading and meditating on holy scripture, may you find a pattern that deepens your life of faith and brings you closer to God.
Remember that you do not go alone this Lent, or ever. As we prepare to remember Jesus’ passion and resurrection, know that whenever two or three are gathered in his name, he is with us. Together with all the saints, our Lenten pilgrimage will bring us once more to Easter joy.
