Earlier today, Bishop Kristin White announced that she has called Jerusalem Greer and Nathan Greer as co-executive directors of Procter Center, the diocese’s camp, conference center and farm in London, Ohio.
Jerusalem Greer has served as Procter’s interim executive director since November 1.
“I am delighted that Jerusalem and Nathan have agreed to stay at Procter, and I look forward to working with them to strengthen camp ministry, enhance our commitment to care for God’s creation, and create new ways to gather our diocesan community at Procter,” Bishop White said. “The Procter board recommended this hire to me after considering the proposal for co-executive director roles and conducting an independent interview with Jerusalem and Nathan Greer, and I am especially grateful for its stewardship of Procter and its ministry as we move forward together.”
Jerusalem Greer is a well-known author, evangelist, and leader in the Episcopal Church’s formation, evangelism and agrarian ministry communities. She previously served as manager for evangelism and discipleship on the presiding bishop’s staff, and also served for five years as minister for formation and connection at St. Peter’s Episcopal Church, Conway in her native Arkansas.
The Greers moved to the Procter farm at the beginning of October. Since then, Jerusalem has worked with diocesan staff and leaders to oversee the camp and conference center’s programs and operations, and to prepare for the upcoming summer camp season, which begins June 9.
Nathan Greer, an experienced farm steward and cook, has served as Procter’s resident volunteer since his arrival, a role that has entailed preparing meals, assisting with farm and facilities duties, clearing trails, and remodeling the White House residence on the Procter campus. Raised on his grandparents’ farm, Nathan has worked in state park hospitality and information technology for the State of Arkansas and managed two farms with Episcopal ministry connections. He has served as a lector, Eucharistic minister, small group leader and musician in the Episcopal Church, and has also been active in food ministry.
“All of us on the board of advisors for Procter are delighted that Nathan and Jerusalem will join us as co-directors for Procter,” Dr. Lissa Barker, first vice chair of the Procter board, said. “They are talented and devoted to revitalizing our beloved sacred space so that we can continue to assure that Procter continues to be a center for formation and The Way of Love for so many of God’s people.”
