Miriam McKenney to lead work against racism in both Ohio dioceses

Bishop White has announced that Miriam McKenney, our diocese’s director of dismantling racism, will also serve as interim missioner for Beloved Community in the Diocese of Ohio for six months beginning next week.

“I am delighted that Miriam has agreed to take on this dual role and lead the way in establishing collaboration between our dioceses,” Bishop White said. “I look forward to learning how we can partner with our friends in Christ in the northern part of the state to move Ohio closer to God’s dream of Beloved Community, and I am grateful to Bishop Anne Jolly for inviting us into this new partnership and for recognizing Miriam’s gifts, which serve our diocese so well.”

McKenney will also continue to serve as director of mission at Forward Movement.

“I’m truly following God’s call to guide and walk with people as we dismantle racism in this corner of God’s creation,” McKenney said. “The only way to do this work is one step at a time, following closely behind Jesus. I’m thankful for this interim call and can’t wait to collaborate with my siblings in the Diocese of Ohio.”
