People of God in Southern Ohio,
I recently celebrated my first anniversary as your bishop. Reflecting on all we’ve done over the last twelve months since that snowy, joyful day in Columbus, I feel immensely grateful for our community and for the commitment we’ve made to one another in mission.
Through our 2024 discernment and listening process, together, we identified three core values inherent to our mission to embody the Gospel of Jesus Christ and share in God’s transformation of our communities with the Holy Spirit as our guide. Those values were integrity, relationship, and love. And part of how we live those values is in our care for one another in mind, body, and spirit.
To that end, I am pleased to introduce a reimagined Diocesan Cycle of Prayer, a tool to remember and pray for one another in connection across our diocese every Sunday.
The new Diocesan Cycle of Prayer is a weekly collection of intercessions for our faith communities and diocesan bodies. In naming 2-3 communities or entities as part of our prayers each week, we pray for their collective members, leadership, and transformational ministries living out our shared mission in the world.
Please consider incorporating the Cycle of Prayer into your Prayers of the People every Sunday. The schedule can be found here as well as on the Worship & Prayer resource page of our diocesan website. I also commend to you the Anglican Cycle of Prayer, which recognizes global partners throughout the Anglican Communion.
I am grateful to Canon Julie Murray who took the lead on this project. Please contact Canon Murray with any questions about the Cycle.
Yours in Christ,
The Rt. Rev. Kristin Uffelman White
