At a meeting earlier this month, the Trustees of the Diocese appointed the Honorable Tyrone Yates, a Hamilton County municipal judge, as a trustee.
Yates is filling a vacancy created late last year when Nadya Richardson resigned after being nominated as diocesan treasurer by Bishop Smith and elected by the diocesan convention. He is eligible to run for the remaining three years of Richardson’s term at the convention in November.
Yates, who served in the Ohio House of Representatives from 2003 to 1010, is a longtime member of St. Andrew’s, Cincinnati, where he has served as junior and senior warden.
“We are delighted that Tyrone has agreed to join us,” Jon B. Boss, president of the trustees, said. “He is an active member of his congregation and understands and has been involved in the diocese for many years. His wisdom and experience will serve us all very well during this transitional time.”
Although the Trustees have previously let vacancies stand until the following convention, Boss said that the five-member body chose to appoint a temporary replacement for Richardson to ensure a three-member quorum at its meetings for the remainder of this year.
