Join the Diocese of Ohio’s Bishop Herbert Thompson, Jr. Chapter of the Union of Black Episcopalians for a celebration of the Rev. Absalom Jones, the first Black priest ordained in The Episcopal Church.
First, join us for livestreamed webinar on Saturday, February 15th for “A Charge to Keep: Absalom Jones Symposium” moderated by the Honorable Tyrone Yates, member of St. Andrew’s, Evanston. Our time together will include a panel discussion with the Rev. Dr. Benjamin Speare-Hardy, rector of St. Margaret’s, Trotwood; the Very Rev. Owen Thompson, dean of Christ Church Cathedral in Cincinnati; Kevin Aldridge, opinion editor at the Cincinnati Enquirer and youth pastor of Allen Temple AME in Cincinnati; Dr. Brandon A. A. J. Davis, member of Warren AME in Toledo; and the Rev. Dr. Mila P. Cooper, associate pastor at Wayman Chapel AME in Dayton . A question and answer period follows the discussion. Then, join Episcopalians across the diocese online and at St. Philip, Columbus (166 Woodland Ave, Columbus, OH 43203) for our annual Absalom Jones Service, taking place at 3:30 pm on Sunday, February 23rd*, commemorating the Feast of Absalom Jones. The service will be also streamed on St. Philip’s YouTube Channel.
