Final Call to Convention

In this final notice to our delegates, clergy, and members of the diocese, please read a welcome note from Bishop White and plan ahead for your onsite access to our new Digital Convention Booklet.

People of God in the Episcopal Diocese of Southern Ohio,

In the eight months that I have been your bishop, I have had countless conversations – individually, in small groups, with leaders and clergy – about who God calls us to be and how God calls us to live. We have talked together and prayed together about this question of our core purpose as the Body of Christ that is the Church.

Sunday by Sunday, we gather together as the people of God. We make space, through our prayer and our worship, for God’s transformation. At the dismissal, we are sent out into the world, to do the work that God has given us to do. That pattern repeats itself in many contexts throughout our common life. It offers us a reliable reference point, a chance for clarity of purpose and perspective on who we are as Church.

That pattern, known as Gather-Transform-Send, serves as a core model for the College for Congregational Development. It is also the theme I have chosen for this year’s Diocesan Convention, November 22-23 at the Roberts Centre in Wilmington. As we begin to celebrate our 150th year as a diocese, I am grateful to return to our core purpose as the Body of Christ throughout Southern Ohio.

I look forward to gathering with you in a few short days as the Body of Christ across Southern Ohio. I give thanks for God’s work of transformation in our lives. I look with joy for the ways that Holy Spirit will send us out, to be salt and light and leaven to the world.

Yours in Christ,

The Rt. Rev. Kristin Uffelman White
X Bishop of the Diocese of Southern Ohio
